GENRE; Pop/Rock

RELEASE DATE; 3 October, 2025

RATING; 3/5

⭐️⭐️⭐️

Dreamcoaster’s Imaginary Reflections arrives as a concise, eight-song testament to jangly, reverb-kissed indie pop that balances nostalgia with a clearer, more confident production. Released October 3, 2025 and running about 32 minutes, the album finds the Brighton duo — Andrew (who wrote, performed and produced most of the record) and Jane Craig (vocals) — leaning into shimmering guitars and intimate lyricism.

From the opener “Catch Me When I Fall” to the wistful “End Of The Rainbow,” Dreamcoaster favor bright melodic hooks threaded through gauzy textures. Lead singles like “Dancing To Your Favourite Song” and a recrafted “Don’t Lie To Me” showcase their knack for earworm choruses wrapped in a soft wall of sound; the arrangements often let Jane’s vocal clarity cut through, giving emotional lines room to land.

What makes Imaginary Reflections work is restraint. At eight tracks the record doesn’t overstay its welcome; instead it tightens its focus around themes of longing, small rebellions and quiet optimism. Production choices—subtle delay, chiming clean guitars and occasional shoegaze swells—pay homage to jangle-gaze traditions while sounding contemporary.

Critics have noted that the album’s strength lies in its balance of fragility and lushness: reviews highlight the duo’s ability to turn modest arrangements into immersive moments. Fans of modern dreampop and jangle-pop will find plenty to love here, and the record’s compact runtime makes repeated listens rewarding.

Imaginary Reflections doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it polishes familiar indie pop tropes into a warm, immediate record. For listeners wanting a short, shimmering LP that marries melody with atmosphere, Dreamcoaster have delivered a quietly assured statement. Standout moments such as “Faster Than You” and “Promise You’ll Be There” prove the duo can shift from buoyant momentum to reflective tenderness without losing momentum, suggesting Dreamcoaster’s best work may still lie ahead. Listen closely.
