The Sway – Feasting 2026 (HK Mix)

The Sway’s “Feasting 2026 (HK Mix)” takes a song that was originally released as the B-side to the band’s first single, “Feasting on my friends”, and gives it a totally new life. The original version was a moody and dark indie piece. Harry Kook’s remix, on the other hand, takes a completely different approach, transforming that earlier atmosphere into a powerful EDM track suitable for the floor. The change is obvious, yet the well-known lyrics and melody stay unchanged, which ensures that the remix has a clear link to the original while at the same time taking the song in a new direction.

The main difference lies in the speed and overall character of the track: rapid dance beats take over from the quiet, introspective indie atmosphere, which gives “Feasting 2026” a far more immediate sort of energy. What is quite interesting is that the song doesn’t require new lyrics or a different hook in order for the change to be effective; it has merely been put into a totally new context. The contrast becomes especially obvious when the remix is heard together with the original, since both versions show different aspects of the same song.

Harry Kook was allowed full creative freedom when it came to the remix and kept the band’s involvement as low as possible. From his home studio in Hertfordshire he returned to The Sway’s archives and reworked a song which had been originally recorded in London in 1992 together with producer Mongerman. The extent of that freedom can be seen in the difference between the two versions. It is not merely a minor alteration of the original recording; it is a new interpretation that views the older material as something open to modification.

“Feasting 2026 (HK Mix)” is thus a noteworthy example of the combination of The Sway’s indie-rock roots with their long-standing respect for the relationship between guitars and dance music. The remix alters the mood, tempo and general atmosphere without changing the song’s lyrics or its catchy hook. Having now been travelling down their musical path for nearly four decades, the band have let a younger voice take one of their first recordings and give it a new interpretation, producing a version that is intentionally different yet still clearly linked to the original.
