Ashot Danielyan – Make Classical Music Great Again
The album ‘Make Classical Music Great Again’ by Ashot Danielyan consists of seven piano solo improvisations, all of which were made in 2026. It is based completely on the piano, enabling the instrument to bear the entire burden of each piece without any other performers or musical instruments being present. Instead of comprising a set of pre-composed works, the album records spontaneous improvisation and thus assigns each of the seven pieces their own position within a recording developed through immediate musical expression.
The piano is the main feature of the entire album, each song coming about as a result of Danielyan’s method of improvisation. The spontaneous character of the recordings is especially important since the pieces were improvised and not prepared as ordinary compositions in advance. This means that the album has a direct link with the act of creating music on the spot. In his seven solo performances Danielyan makes use of the same instrument to develop his ideas by adopting an approach in which improvisation is given priority.

The album also shows Danielyan’s involvement with a number of styles, such as Classical, Ambient, New Age and Experimental music; yet Make Classical Music Great Again is specifically designed as a piano solo album, with the aim of focusing on his relationship with the instrument which he regards as his favourite. Since no other instruments are included the piano fills the whole musical space and as a result the performances and the decisions taken during each improvisation become the key elements of the listening experience.
The album Make Classical Music Great Again includes seven impromptu pieces created in 2026 and thus provides a straightforward display of Danielyan’s work as both a pianist and an improviser. It does not depend on a big ensemble or on a complicated musical arrangement to establish its character; rather, it focuses on a single performer and a single instrument. The various improvisations together form a set that is based on spontaneity, piano performance and the possibility of creating on the spot, the result being an album devoted to solo piano improvisation.
