Energy Whores return with Invisible (Four Ways), an ambitious four-track EP that turns one composition into four distinct emotional and sonic experiences. Led by New York songwriter and vocalist Carrie Schoenfeld, the project explores the feeling of being present yet unseen, translating social disconnection, loneliness and emotional distance into an immersive avant-electro setting. Rather than presenting standard remixes, each interpretation is rebuilt with its own arrangement, production and atmosphere, allowing the same song to reveal remarkably different shades of meaning.
The Synth-Pop version provides the most immediate entry point, pairing melodic accessibility with electronic momentum and a polished production style. From there, the Lo-Fi interpretation moves into a hazier, more intimate space, allowing vulnerability to come forward through its restrained textures. The Cinematic version expands the emotional landscape with greater drama and atmosphere, while the Indie interpretation introduces a more organic edge. Across all four versions, Schoenfeld’s vocals remain central, giving continuity to a release that deliberately embraces contrast.
Behind the project is a strong collaborative partnership between Schoenfeld, producer and sound designer Grant (NYC), and guitarist Attilio Valenti. Their combined work incorporates synthesizers, piano, keyboards, electric guitar, bass, electronic drums, percussion and atmospheric textures, with each version carefully reshaped to suit its individual identity. Schoenfeld’s background as a classically trained pianist, filmmaker and multidisciplinary artist further strengthens Energy Whores’ distinctive approach, where music and visual storytelling frequently intersect.
Following Arsenal of Democracy and releases including Fade to Gray and Planet B, Invisible (Four Ways) reinforces Energy Whores’ refusal to be confined by conventional genre definitions. The project sits between synth-pop, electronic experimentation, art rock and alternative music, while maintaining an emphasis on strong melodies and provocative storytelling. The EP’s greatest achievement is demonstrating how dramatically production can alter emotional perception without changing the underlying song. Four interpretations, four atmospheres and four perspectives ultimately make Invisible an engaging study of vulnerability, connection and the many ways an individual can disappear in plain sight.
