ORSHINA – REQUIEM FOR “NOVA”

Some albums are aimed at providing entertainment, others are the result of a desire to make sense of situations which cannot be explained. In his Requiem for “NOVA”, Orshina deals with the severe effects of loss by drawing upon his own sorrow to examine what hope could mean in a world capable of such cruelty. The work goes beyond his personal experience and shows a wish to find comfort and understanding when the usual sources of reassurance have failed. Instead of trying to explain the tragedy, he uses this memorial piece to recognize its impact and to search for meaning in the period that follows.

Requiem for “NOVA” acquires a more extensive significance because it promotes a sense of collective responsibility and compassion. When Orshina appeals for “help me heal the world”, he is expressing a desire that goes beyond his own personal recovery; his message prompts people to think about the suffering endured by others and stresses the need to keep the memories of those who are now deceased. Because of this viewpoint, the project takes on a broader human aspect, linking a deeply personal experience with the hope that healing and understanding can still exist in the world.

Orshina compares the process to a psychological journey which involves crying, emotional breakdowns, and days of being exhausted. He emphasizes how difficult it is to face up to painful experiences at the same time as trying to turn them into a form of creative expression. The project does not imply that artistic activity offers a simple way of escaping suffering; on the contrary, it recognizes the emotional demands of working through loss and of looking for some kind of logic in the face of devastation.

Requiem for “NOVA” finally returns to the value of memory, compassion, and hope; by stressing that those who have died will never be forgotten, it establishes a solid basis for a work which starts from a place of grief but is aimed at promoting healing. Orshina does not claim that music can erase tragedy or answer all the unanswered questions. Rather, he provides a deeply personal reply which encourages listeners to think about the people they have lost, the pain that others suffer, and the possibility of finding a purpose even if understanding remains unclear.
