REETOXA – You Deserve Better Than Me
Reetoxa returns with You Deserve Better Than Me, a reflective release from the expansive Soliloquy project. The song draws directly from Jason McKee’s lived experience during a chance meeting in South Yarra, where a promising connection formed across shared interests but gradually revealed a lack of deeper alignment. That moment of emotional clarity becomes the foundation for the single’s central theme of honest disengagement without conflict.
Rather than framing the experience as regret or loss, the track treats it as recognition—an acceptance that timing and chemistry do not always align, even when circumstances appear ideal. This perspective gives the song a grounded emotional tone that avoids exaggeration, focusing instead on quiet resolution and self-awareness.
Within Soliloquy, the release contributes a moment of restraint, balancing the album’s broader emotional density with a pause that privileges reflection over momentum.

Recorded at Cheltenham’s Avenue studio, the performance came together through an efficient and adaptive process. A late harmonic adjustment introduced by Kit Riley redefined the internal structure of the piece, allowing the ensemble to complete the recording in just a handful of takes. The result feels natural and cohesive, shaped by instinct as much as planning.
